I received this cocktail book, a gift from my sister, in 2015.  Little did I know it would set in motion a series of events that have led me to this point.  At that time I didn’t even know how to make a proper Old Fashioned!

Each time I went out and had a great cocktail I'd try to recreate it at home. This eventually lead to a deep dive into the science of mixology with a “home bar” taking up 2 shelves in my pantry (to my wife’s occasional dismay). So, the book seemed a fitting foundation for a smoky shot of this cocktail, an effort to recreate an amazing cocktail I had at a local tiki bar.

Pineapple Express 

  • 1 oz Bulleit bourbon
  • 1 oz Plantation 5 yr rum
  • .5 oz Amaro Montenegro
  • .25 oz pineapple syrup 
  • .25 Amontillado sherry
  • 2 dash Angostura bitters

Stir ingredients in a mixing glass with ices, strain into a rocks glass, add a handcut rock and smoke the cocktail with cinnamon smoke.
