La Hora Dorada

Looking for something to make your Paloma and Margarita jealous? Look no further.

I've once again come up empty handed in my ongoing quest to find something that doesn't work with Amaro Montenegro (no, they're not paying me, but please send me some if you're listening). In this latest trial, it steps in beautifully for the dry curacao or orange liqueuer you might put in a margarita, while a Paloma's grapefruit stands up to the added sweetness. They're jealous indeed.

Enjoy this refreshing hybrid!

La Hora Dorada

  • 1 1/2 oz anejo tequila
  • 1/2 oz *Soltado (serrano & cinnamon infused anejo)
  • 1 oz Amaro Montenegro
  • 3/4 oz grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 1/2 oz agave nectar

Instructions

Place all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake. Strain into a rocks or tumbler glass with large cubes, add a thin grapefruit slice between the ice and wall of the glass. Salud!

*Spicy! Optional, milder subs: mezcal, chile liqueur, more anejo

Mmm shaker frost. MIssion accomplished.

#BADhack: Have a photo that didn't come out as you'd envisioned? Try this: Crop it differently, make it black and white. *Voila!
