Coffee Infused Negroni

Coffee Infused Negroni

But first, coffee (infused cocktails).

I've infused spirits with everything from peaches and pecans to herbs and flowers, but this may be my favorite. Caution, you need to be a coffee lover to enjoy this one but the possibilities are really endless with this amazing flavor combination.

Coffee Infused Negroni

  • 1 oz coffee bean infused sweet vermouth (recipe below)
  • 1 oz gin
  • 1 oz Campari

Instructions:

Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with ice, stir for 10-20 seconds, strain into a rocks glass with large cubes or a single king cube. Express an orange peel over the top and drop in.

Coffee Infused Sweet Vermouth

  • 1/2 cup fresh coffee beans (I used espresso roast)
  • 1/2 bottle sweet vermouth (13 oz)
  • Air tight infusion vessel (mason jar will do in a pinch)

Add coffee beans and vermouth to your infusion vessel. I used my Ethan+Ashe Alkemista. Give a light swirl to soak the beans in vermouth and let infuse for 12-18 hours in a cool dark place. The longer the infusion the stronger the coffee flavor. Refrigerate after removing the beans and place in an air tight container. Note that the flavor intensifies after you’ve removed the coffee from the infusion, so err on the side of caution with infusion time. You can always infuse longer if needed. Vermouth is a fortified wine so keep refrigerated and use within 1 month for best flavor.
